Concord Temple
Remodeling and Expansion Study, Concord, California
The concept study was to test the viability of Concord Temple expansion with the acquisition of additional real estate adjoining the existing Temple properties, to remodel the temple premises, to install the presiding deities in traditionally designed sanctums and to provide additional facilities like residences for priests, management office and parking spaces for the devotees particularly during festival days.
The study involved analyzing the location of the new temple on the combined lots
(existing + possible acquisition of adjoining lots), areas for new temple, entry, exit and circulation around the temple, plan for phasing of construction without disrupting the current functioning of the temple, assess the sufficiency of the areas, future expansion, to provide the required parking spaces and to facilitate the flow of traffic and to analyse opportunities for sustainable development within the constrained parameters of the site.
This study was done to help the Temple management for planning purposes.
